idle sounds too low
what air filter are you using?
are there baffles in your drag pipe?
did you plug the vac port on the carb?

definately raise the idle speed. then I'd play with the air/mix screw once it's warmed up.

Just so we're clear...

http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1221818822/0#0

and if the plug is still in there be REALLY careful...I mean REALLY careful!!!

first up the idle tho' if that works...leave it.

Only problem I heard was an EXTREMELY low idle speed..  :(

You want to keep it up around at least 1,000 RPM to maintain proper oil lubrication in the top of the head.

(Then post up some more pics of your bike & what you've done...looks like a neat bobber.)

Idle speed should be 1200-2000 rpms. To low an idle and you'll burn your engine up.

Too high an idle and you'll overheat sitting at a red light.

Owner's manual says 1100 =- 100.

I just turn the idle speed up. But how can find out if is 1000 or 2000? :o
I have to do a test drive first, seems when the bike is warms it runs smother!
I thought about to change my stock air filter to a k&n pod filter or ryca filter. Do I really have to jet my carb?

Sorry for my noob questions! :-/
Pics will follow!
Thank you for you help!!!

Ive got a Supertrapp w/ 14 disks , Lancers Stage 1 cam, Ive rejetted & it doesnt make a hoot if its 40 degrees or 85 degrees, its Gonna want choked to lite off, 1/2 usually works & I start there. Its gonna run better if I raise the idle speed just a hair, too. As it warms up, Ill kill the choke, & eventually Ill hear the rpm is a bit high at a stop & Ill turn it baCK down again,
Ifs a bit fiddly, but totally predictable & understandable, Its a Fat Thumper & youll feed that One Power Stroke every 4th run of the piston well or it will be noticeable, theres no other piston there to cover for this one not hitting right, So, I find myself reaching down & giving the idle a little tickle,, its okay, it looks designed to be easy to adjust, no tools,

What should it have on the speedo in 1st gear if th engine is running 1,000 rpm? I forgot,, Of course, thers speedo error, tire size error,.but if its turning 700 rpm, youll know, cuz it wont much want to idle in 1st anyway,,Id rather have the idle a hair high than low,.
& your Noob questions are no bother at all,,
