Title: Potential powder-coated engine case problems?
Post by wombat on 02/16/12 at 15:07:07

I've just had the engine cases powder coated. Looks great, but before coating the parts it looks like they were blasted to clean the surfaces. Now the uncoated sections inside the cases have a slight grit to them. Will this stuff come off in the oil and screw up the engine?

I would play around with it with some shop towels and see if it doesn't clean up.. if not, maybe some low grade grit sandpaper can fix it up.. then smooth it out with high grit... but I'm no pro so take my advice as a last resort...

If i understand you and its light overspray it usually comes off with light grit compound. I doubt youd want to take a chance on "what iff". Best of luck.
