Title: Seat issue...
Post by Doug on 02/12/12 at 01:02:58

Do I have to replace the fender of my 87' savage in order to fit a one piece long seat? Reason I ask is because someone is trying to give me one for dirt cheap and my original has seen better days.

Basic answer is no.  You can easily use the 87 fender.

I replaced the two piece on my 2001 with a newer one piece with no mod's.    What I did on the rear tab on the one piece seat is put a rubber bumper pad on it so it didn't rattle against the paint.   The two side mounting tabs hold the seat from moving around.

Optionally you can drill a hole in the existing fender to bolt the rear tab on.

I found the one piece actually gives you maybe 1/2 to 1 inch more leg room becasue of the way the seat pan is.

Thanks a lot! That's good news all around, cause I'm kind of tall.  :)
