Title: Vacuum line seal
Post by feelinjunky on 01/12/12 at 09:44:40

I changed my petcock to a raptor and I want to seal the vacuum line. I've searched forever and can't find the plug for the vacuum inlet on the carb. Home depot, lowes, this site, etc. I'm looking for a perfect fit rubber cap. Thanks.

I thought most all auto parts carried a bag of assorted sizes.

Maybe I thought wrong

be creative.
I think I used a short piece of the old vacuum line with a golf tee forced and clamped in the end.

Any auto parts store should have them. Mine came in a blister pack. There're lots of ways to plug that line, but using a cap gives the job a nice, finished look.

Your gonna love that Raptor.

Talk to your parts clerk, every auto parts store has them.

I put a screw in the port and then covered it with a rubber boot from one of those dish rack thingys...you know the ones that cover the sharp wire end. 2 years and still there.

They have these in packs of 5 at Advance Auto, Auto Zone.. just make sure you get the pack with 47392 on the top left of the package...

I just used a section of the old vacuum hose.  I stuffed a bit of RTV into it and folded it over, using a couple of zip ties to keep it folded.  Has lasted several years.

IHTH someone!

Newbie Question! Why does that vaccum line have to be sealed after swapping out for the Raptor petcock? :-?

The raptor petcock doesn't use a vacuum source,  so you have to seal the vacuum port on the carb after swapping to it.  Otherwise you will have a major vacuum leak.

It's worth the couple bucks to buy a pack of vacuum caps so it doesn't look like that, IMHO.  :-/
