Title: What a king queen seat might look like on a savage
Post by Jahoo on 01/03/12 at 21:55:02

I've decided that my savage needs to be more old school. I've been throwing around the idea of putting a king queen seat on ever since I bought her. After an exhaustive search I have yet to see a savage with a real king queen seat. So I thought I'd do a photo shop mock up of what one could look like (my first so I apologize for the horrible job). The more I looked at my savage the more I noticed that the seat was already kinda in a king queen seat form but just missing that huge back rest. So here is an idea of what a savage would look like if you just added a huge back rest and a horribly drawn sissy bar.

I'm going to start this project today. I can promise it will be half assed and look horrible. But if i like it I'll do a better job.

I think it would look wicked, if you fab the back rest bars yourself (then attach stock padding) make sure you give the top a /\ if you want that old school look  :D

If you run that sissy bar down to the swingarm, like your drawing,...
you will have an unintentional rigid frame...  (it will rip your fender off)..
...needs to be attached to the factory fender strut...

Yeah I don't want to rip off my fender. I'm doing a little mock up tomorrow on the bike using a bit of vinyl, some foam and plywood; just to see if I want to go forward on building a sissy bar for the first time. If it looks remotely decent I might post a pic, If it looks ridiculously horrible I will definitely post a pic.

He could always just not attach it to the fender... ad a Y piece to the bottom of the shock bolt.. so it would be bolted on the rear axle and the bottom of the shock bolt on both sides, not attached to anything else.. gonna need to do some welding... or you could mod the stock sissy bar, or even buy a queen sissy bar from one of these custom chrome cycle shops, probably gonna have to mod that too though.. have fun ridin' your tall lady around  :D

i would think you want the back rest to move with the seat/fender

I bet you could find a dozen or more cool old vintage ones on Ebay that could be easily modified to work...

I don't know how cheap it would be, but since the guys at Voodoo Vintage make lots of Savage stuff, they might be into that. It would certainly be easy, and definitely their style; sort-a... Worth sending them an e-mail I bet, especially in the winter when it's probably their slow season...
