Title: Voodoo Vintage: Austin Singer's BAD SPIRIT
Post by voodoo on 01/02/12 at 22:38:39

Just received some great photos from a good customer.

Earlier this year Austin Singer of California ordered the Suzuki Savage BAD SPIRIT frame complete with center stand and mono-shock solo seat.

In very short time, he has completely mocked up the final drive and even ordered a set of our Gusset Mini-Apes to complete the "look".

And... We know... There are no front brakes!  Please refer to earlier thread concerning "safety" issues...  ;D

Your good customer has the bowl vent connected to the vac port.

he need to set it right before he get's in a running state otherwise a good bump will send gas right into the intake.

nice work. I think that frame with the savage engine just looks right.
on another note...my right foot gets hot just looking at that exhaust!

What a cute lil oil bag... oh that's the electrics!  :D

I have a new saying.. "If you're not gonna run front brakes at least be safe and get a fork stabilizer"

Interesting setup he's got there...wonder what he's got in mind for paint or if he's going to run it like that?

Like the setup of the center stand and hiding the electronics in an oil bag. I like the overall look he achieved with this bike...  8-)

I know he's gonna at least paint it flat black...

I don't know, the more I stare at it the more I want to see what it would look like with all the chrome pieces brushed to give it a full "unfinished raw steel" look, I guess you'd call that a gun metal finish?... and add some more gussets.. with the holes..

That is a cool frame, seat is a bit thin.. for my old arse!  I agree, steel toed boot only on the brake foot! This is a different project, chain drive would look good on this retro bobber for sure!  Look forward to seeing the finished product!

The rear brake linkage seems more complicated than necessary. Other things on the bike are so well thought out and designed that it's a shame that cluster of tabs, linkages and springs are putting a bit of ugly on it. But maybe the Rube Goldberg look of the setup was intentional.

Is this a joke.... if it's not, then I'm trading my s40 for a hot rod too... then I'll sell the hot rod and start fab on my custom bobber...

Sorry, should have included it in the original post.  Cool bike I think, but the brake situation is quite scary... and not $5,500 worth of cool that I still have to completely wire.
