Title: carb jet question
Post by brucey on 12/24/11 at 10:37:55

Sorry if this has already been answered, I did some searching but didn't have any luck. I have a 2006 savage and I replaced the muffler with a straight pipe (with baffle) from blue collar bobbers. I do not know much about carburetors but from what I have been reading on here I would need to rejet after my change in exhaust. I purchased a Dynojet kit and the instructions say If you are running an aftermarket exhaust or slip-on with high flowing baffle use the DJ144. If I am not mistaken the stock main jet is a 145. My first thought was that they are telling me to jet in the wrong direction, shouldn't you be going up in size? any help in the right direction would be great,  thanks.

I can only guess DynoJet sizes are not actual metric sizes. 145 really means 1.45mm wide hole. .55 means 0.55mms and so on... google a little, try "jets comparison chart" or something like that.

You might search for the ryca build threads as they all needed to re jet.  There are a ton of threads on rejetting.  It might be trial and error for you.  I am running a pipe similar to yours and am at nearly sealevel.  I run a 155 main and a 52.5 pilot.  I this was my second combo and seems to be where I need to be.  Keep in mind that what works for anyone else is a guidline and not set in stone.  Good luck.

You are correct sir, I just did some more digging after reading your reply and the dynojet numbers are different and the needle that comes with the kit is different. I guess I learned something new today  :)   thanks guys and happy holidays

I have a Raask straight dragpipe with baffle (made for the LS650) and I was recommended to rejet to a 155 main and 55 pilot by Raask.. if you ask the BCB guy he'll recommend somethin for ya...

verslagen1, I dont even see a dynojet 144 on that chart. It looks like it starts at dynojet 149.3 is there another chart I am missing?

I found another chart for comparison:

I'm thinking the BCB guy is gonna recommend at the very least a 150 Mikuni main jet...

Don't forget that Raask is a larger diameter header as well, so he may not need the 155 with the stock header. Maybe a 152.5, depending on altitude.

True... I'm thinking about taking my baffle out  [smiley=2vrolijk_08.gif]

The stock Mikuni 145 is a Dynojet 154.7... so either the charts wrong or Dynojet is wrong????
