Title: Compassionate rat...
Post by Serowbot on 12/08/11 at 23:25:36

Well,.. I'll be boogered... :-?...
Study says,... rats will show compassion to a fellow rat, even when tempted by chocolate... ...releasing their fellow rat, to share a chocolate....

We should aspire to be so noble and chivalrous as a rat...
... inspiring..... ;)...

Its not as big of a deal as you mite think. Rats dont feel the same about chocolate as people do.,I worked with a guy once who hardly touched chocolate, & he was one of the sorriest rats I ever met.
Actually, thats pretty amazing, people could learn a thing or 2.

I think its pretty telling of what someone is all about if they can watch Americas Funniest Videos. I jump & lurch & recoil,, few of the clips are acceptable to me. Seriously, whats funny about a kid crashing a skateboard & doin a faceplant? Or landing on a handrail & riding his coin purse to the bottom? A baby puking on someone is funny why? People who laff at the pain of others need to really think about why they do that..

I don't think there is anything ground breaking here. All most warm blooded animals have an instinctive need for companionship. The rats would have to have been taught to open the cages- usually with a reward, and they probably were doing just that. I worked with rats in college, and bred fancy mice for a couple of years (until, the smell finally got to me), and observed a lot of "human-like" behavior. I think the lesson is not that rats show human traits, but that humans show rat-like traits. ;)
