Title: Frame Colour Post by McMillan on 12/01/11 at 07:04:24 OK here is my helmet and its the colour I'm painting the bike. What colour should I do the frame? http://p1.bikepics.com/2011/12/01/bikepics-2310150-full.jpg |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by Gyrobob on 12/01/11 at 08:23:00 I like your color choice a lot. I'd use a deep metallic brown that would look like a darker shade of the color of the bike. Dark enough to contrast with the primary color, but light enough to not look black. |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by MotoBuddha on 12/01/11 at 08:32:00 Gold. http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk182/motobuddha/24426ef5.jpg http://i280.photobucket.com/albums/kk182/motobuddha/304142bc.jpg See how good the brass rivets look on your helmet? That's how good a gold frame would look. Either that, or black. |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by McMillan on 12/01/11 at 08:34:09 OK I forgott about Brown and as for Gold you are correct it would be sweet. |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by MotoBuddha on 12/01/11 at 08:36:01 But how does the blue headlight work with this? |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by McMillan on 12/01/11 at 08:37:15 Crappy pic the headlight is flat black and will likely be painted the colour of the frame. |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by teabowl13 on 12/01/11 at 09:13:57 I'm terrible with colors, but I've always liked the look of a colored frame; dark brown, bronze, gold, whatever. Anything besides black always looks custom. The black will just look like a stock frame, soI say if you're going to do it, do it in color... |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by Bubba on 12/01/11 at 10:02:43 dark green would be my vote |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by justin_o_guy2 on 12/01/11 at 10:13:56 Get a color wheel & look at what is opposite of the dominant color on the helmet. |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by ebonysresearch on 12/02/11 at 17:22:01 wow that gold bike looks awesome. When I tore my bike down last fall I wanted to paint the frame red and when I did I thought it would be too loud in color contrast but now I regret it after seeing a similar bobber in a mag with a red frame. Definitely not black. So now I m doing the same thing...tearing her back appart and doing what I should have done. |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by built2last66 on 12/04/11 at 13:06:02 McMillan, what brand/model helmet it that? |

Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by justin_o_guy2 on 12/07/11 at 10:06:49 If youre lousy with colors, get chips & lay them out together, visit with a painter, get a color wheel, lots of ways to know your choices wont look like crap together. |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by verslagen1 on 12/07/11 at 10:11:58 I've seen a few that were silver or gray that were stunning. so I'd match the silver/gray that's on the checker. |

Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by teabowl13 on 12/08/11 at 15:26:48 I like silver or gray too, but the gold would be really nice as well. I think that if you stick with any of the other colors that are already in the helmet it'll look good. After all, some geeky designer kid with a fancy college degree got paid big bucks to figure out how to match all the colors in that helmet... I voted "OTHER" for the gold... Not to copy Buddah, but I do think a dark gold would be great with that brown... Besides, even HE is telling you to do it, and anyway your bobber will be a totally different bike. |
Title: Re: Frame Colour Post by McMillan on 12/13/11 at 09:29:59 OK Poll is closed made my choice. Wondering If I should let you all stew over the colour or let you know? ;D ;D |

That's going to be a GREAT combination... By the way; this thread has convinced me to paint my bike's frame as well. I think it'll be a deep british racing green to off-set the vintage blue-green tank... Vintage Roadster build: http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1323582921 |
