Title: savage rims
Post by Jimmer on 11/30/11 at 06:01:22

It's been a while since I've been to the site. I'm going to redo my 2001 savage into a theme style bike. Being a Vietnam vet that will be my theme.
Bike frame is to be powder coated, either black or fatigue green. Tank and fenders to be Vietnam camo  pattern design. I'm trying to find substitute for my spoke rims. I'd like to powder coat them black. I would like to be able to keep the belt drive.Any information would be appreciated. Also any suggestions on the design or the paint scheme will be considered. Thanks for the help i n advance. I'll try and post pictures as the build progresses.

I think Lancer had alloy rims on his, Suzuki GS was the donor. Not sure if the pulley matches the pattern, but sure the info is here somewhere.

The sprockets for some old GS bikes bolt right up to the Savage hub, so the reverse should be true -- Savage belt pulley bolting onto an old GS hub.

Of course, you'd need to get a rear wheel with a drum brake, unless you want to do all the modding and fabbing necessary to convert to a disk brake on the back.

Look up the subject "whale"
80's GS bikes had the same hub and plug right in.
at least one has the same drum, I can't remember which one.
but it's in the whale post.
