This is how it starts. Tear it apart.  Took 2 hours.

Oh man, it looks like you're working in even less space than I do. Is that rental storage space or something?

You should really consider bagging as you go, makes it all go back together much smoother.

No just a small closed off are to keep the elements out. Its about 10x10

As for bagging well not much of this stuff is going back on the bike anyway.

Also noticed you swapped your seat setup for a mono-shock setup...how's that workout for you? Haven't seen many of them.

did you get that exhaust all in one piece or did you cut it and weld the back part on i was wanting to go a little past the back peg and 45 out cut nicely obviously haha and what kind of alterations did you do to that carb after the new exhaust? ;D and p.s. thats a crazy idea to have that original metal behind the writing ... just awsome man 8-)

Title: Re: Bobber build
Post by McMillan on 06/06/12 at 18:32:28

made the whole exhaust in one piece. its loud as hell lol.  did no mods to the carb runs great.

haha thats awsome man, to loud? neighbors want to slash your tires loud?lol prolly a stupid question but you think if i chop mine off at the bottom when it starts going straight then weld or clamp on another foot of pipe on would be good or no? OR just cut it and leave it like that hahhaa 8-)

Looks in the photo like there's no air filter at all; that will definitely make it run different, especially if the exhaust is wide open, is that how you're riding it?

I rode mine with the short header for a day way way to loud and I love loud.
and yes there was no filter but there is one now

Absolutely beautiful Bobber man ... well done! 8-) Now you need to take her out to a nice backdrop (covered bridge, 50's diner, hot rod shop, or grafitti'd wall, etc.) and get some calendar-type "art" photos!

Very nice work dude.  I really like the 3D effect of the red lettered Twisted on the side of the tank over the sparkly grey area.
Is that a grey metal flake type paint or is it a clear coat over the blasted metal ?

i want to get one of those bags for my bike where you get it???

Title: Re: Bobber build

Not bad at all.

I think if mine was in bare metal I'd have dressed the frame welds, although your frame appears to have better welds than mine to start with. I can hang a pencil on some of the "boogers" the factory left on it.

Keep an eagle eye on that factory headlight bucket. The plastic is pretty fragile. You might want to order a metal replacement just in case.

Since you don't have/need passenger pegs, you might want to put an extra exhaust brace in there. I ran mine with struts for awhile, constantly having to retighten the exhaust port nuts.

Renegade, any bike shop that has cruiser stuff should have that bag. Including dealerships with a smart (that means an actual rider) parts manager.
