Title: 20 amp main fuses?
Post by farmer on 11/27/11 at 09:27:06

Novmeber 30th update
thanks guys for the feedback. I had never changed the fuses an the bike only has 6500 miles so I was pretty sure they where the factory fuses but just had to check for sure.

my nieghbor who has worked a second job in years past at a dealership looked at the fuses in the main block under the right side of the seat on my LS650 and seemed to think that the two 20 amp fuses in place where two heavy for the gauge of wire leading to and from the fuse block.

Does anyone have a manual that tells must what amperage of fuses should be in place?

thanks :-/

20 amp is the correct size.

According to the factory service manual, 20 amps is the correct fuses for all Savages/S40s. 8-)

20 amp for sure. I always carry a few spares in my pocket when riding. I had a short under the seat once. Everytime I hit the brakes the fuse would blow. That 1/2 mile pushing to home was a b!tch.

If the wire is smaller than 14 ga, (you can bet its not) then he is correct,....either the wire is too small or the fuse too big.
