Under "General Category" there is the "Technical Documents/Reference" section. There is a wealth of knowledge and modifications there that can be done with this bike. It's a lot of reading, but sometimes that's a lot easier than trying to explain all the things that can be done, in here. Read up on carburators and mufflers there. It's all indexed and categorized.

Welcome to the club.  [smiley=vrolijk_26.gif]

Dear New to Riding, get about 5,000 miles on it, then decide what to do,

Most folks here go to a used Harley muffler... good quality, dime a dozen. fairly easy swap, and much nicer sound...
You won't gain much HP's on this bike without radical work, and at the cost of reliability...
Free'r breathing air filter, Harley muffler, and a re-jet will give you 2 to 4 horses...

The MSF rider course, and the advance rider course.  Seriously.  And you can go ahead with the Harley muffler change, but like others said, get some time with the bike first.

You may decide that the best way to get the power you want is a Suzuki Marauder. (Or Rocket III, or Busa, or...)  The Savage is an awesome bike, but it has some limitations.  Learn them before you go to far down the path.
