I'm thankful I get to spend the day with my sister, just hope I don't ruin it. I have a bad track record with holidays. they just make me feel like a complete utter failure so I spread the misery  :(

i suck, but still, very thankful that family and friends will actually be around this holiday season

Yes indeed, happy Thanksgiving to all. Mine probably won't be. We are so broke, I couldn't even afford a turkey. Our family has scattered, and we don't get together much any more since my mom died 3 years ago. But, I suppose if the Packers crush the Lions, to improve their record to 11-0, all will not be lost.

For those with holiday phobias, maybe you should do like George Costanza on Seinfeld. Remember when he did and said just the opposite of what he wanted to? "I'm 35, no job, and I live with my parents." He finally got a good looking woman. Holidays ARE hard sometimes, but if you'll just be neutral in conversations and smile occassionally, you may find someone in the family actually loves you. They may be wrong, but I've found if you walk into a room with piss in one eye and vinegar in the other it causes problems. I sincerely hope you all have a nice week. We will eat better than 90% of the world this week. Considering that many will die, I sometimes think of the $20 I spend on an ink cartridge for my computer that I CANNOT get to a starving child in another country because of corruption. And yes, we do help others, so no hijacking like I hijacked KIM's thoughts. Sorry Kim, and sweet dreams on T'giving.  Boofer  :)

Well there's plenty to grumble about...

But plenty to be thankful for,
not being road pizza,
a savage rest my carcass upon,
and all of you.

Lostartist, Didn't mean to put you in a corner. I'll be with a bunch of folks who drive Mercedes', but can't check the oil. Still great folks. Sometimes I think it's as hard for them to relate to me as it is for me to relate to them. And I'll be in a corner sitting quietly...with half a pie!!

We will have some people stop in thru the day, theyll come & go, eat & chat & go, One guy is supposed to stop by & we will cut him some firewood,. if he makes it, I expect he will, he is a bachelor ( which is different from single how?,, IDK) He cant cook, never passes on a free meal & needs firewood, so, he Will make it, Im sure. I just hope I feel good enough to have the energy to handle the load.. If so, it will be a nice day,

bachelor vs single one is a decision the other implies you are hopeful to someday not be single.

Best of Turkey Days to all...

... and remember to do the patriotic thing, and eat a few extra rolls or turkey sandwiches to balance out the wheat free folks... and an extra portion of 'taters...
Gotta' keep them farmers in business...  ;)...

I cooked my big bird today,... to avoid getting up at 4am...  he's 23.75lbs!...
That's dinner for two.... and a freezer full of leftovers that will last 'till Easter, for tacos, chimi's, stews, pies, and sandwiches...
... and now,.. I made myself hungry... :-?...

Was it really necessary to tell us how big your bird is?

Well, it turned out to be a beautiful day. We ended up aquiring a small turkey and all the fixin's. Had a great meal. I don't know how much wheat is in a turkey, but my belly is full. Mmmmm turkey.

How about them Packers? 11-0. Couldn't have asked for anything more.

A little late, but:

I hope you all had a better Thanksgiving than the turkeys (breeding stock excepted).  Not to brag too much, but I definitely did!

Flew out to SoCal on Thanksgiving Day itself, arriving just in time to hop into the rental car and go to my brother's for turkey with the family -- my mom & son, brother, sister-in-law, two out of three nieces and some other extended family and friends of the hosting couple.  Then Mrs Doc and I split up -- she took the rental car to her sister's, and I drove my mom back to Ventura in her car.

Friday after Thanksgiving I spent bonding with my youngest brother using mechanics tools, a hydraulic lift and other manly instruments.  Swapped the stock monoshock on the Triumph Thunderbird for a Hagon.  Since the old shock made it's own oily puddle on the garage floor, I think it was a good call.

Of course, with the new shock, I had to check it out, make sure the preload was set properly...

Since a good ride deserves an espresso...

Meanwhile, Mrs Doc was meeting with her mom and her mom's docs and the diabetes support staff.  Amazingly, several problems were actually resolved, and mom-in-law's diabetes control was improved.  Along with that, so did her general outlook on life.

Still, Mrs Doc had to pick me up from my mom's, so she got a chance to check out the new shock from the pillion position:

So... Much to be thankful for, and I hope all of you had an equally excellent Thanksgiving!
