Has anyone noticed a big differance in how the bike runs after swapping out to a Pod air cleaner? My bike is almost idling like i have the choke pulled out. Also seems to backfire more now on decelleration. After I let off the throttle it doesnt kick down for a few moments. Does this mean I need to rejet? Changing to a pod filter requires a change in jetting. They are less restrictive than the stock intake, which means the air-fuel mixture gets leaner. The stock setting is already on the lean side because of emissions regulations.

I knew it would be a little leaner. But the bike was running a little rich before I swapped out to the pod. The bike is jetted for 9,000 feet. I do have to say that at 60+ this bike is perfect now. Mid-full throttle is perfect. Just really need some assistance on that Idle-1/4 throttle. Does anyone have any stats on Jets & etc. I need for this?

If the stock air cleaner is restrictive, (which I don't believe) it is only restrictive at WOT. Think about it,....if it was restrictive at even 1/2 throttle, what would it do at 3/4 and WOT when 4 times more air is needing to go thru it. It would be blowing nothing but black smoke, if it would run at all, and the sp plug would foul in a mile ot 2 at WOT !

Now open up the exhaust, and the stock air cleaner could be a little restrictive, but again, at WOT only.

It seems to me that what goes in depends on what can come out...
In other words; the way that the engine is tuned is a combination of how well the air filter allows air in, along with how much exhaust the muffler allows OUT.
SO, It seems to me that just adding the pod filter won't make much of a difference unless you also add a less restrictive exhaust.
I'm planning to start with a K&N pod filter, combined with a Harley Dyna Exhaust. That seems like a pretty popular and easy solution that is also rather in-expensive to do.
There's a great page in the TECH section about selecting the right muffler, getting it installed correctly, and jetting your carb to match. AWESOME information (Thanks everyone here...)
