Title: UFO or alternative for stock CV Carb?? (Lancer?)
Post by teabowl13 on 10/25/11 at 10:09:56

HEY GUYS,

I hope I'm not beating a dead horse here...
Tearing down my $250 donor Savage to build a vintage style roadster (A-La Ryca, but more old school.) My buddy who's doing the build and I came across Lancer's post about the UFO carb mod that he did on his Mikuni VM carb. I know it says they are NOT for the stock CV carbs, but I am curious?

Is that just because Thunder Products just doesn't make one?
Or is it because the principle doesn't really apply to the CV carb?

My mechanic is intrigued by the idea, and interested in adapting the idea to the stock carb; even if just to see what happens. He wanted me to put it out to you guys to see what you all think....

Any thoughts, Lancer? Anyone else tried this?

And yes, I promise to post lots of pics and updates, once we have more to look at than just a stripped down old Savage... No matter what happens with the carb...

It's a improvement for the VM carb only.
It fills in a cavity in the bottom of the slide to improve airflow.

Ours doesn't have that cavity so we don't need it.

Thanks Verslagen!

That's what I thought. My friend is working on the carb, so I haven't even seen it in person since he's taken it apart, but he wanted me to ask!

I'll be in touch when we see what the cam chain tensioner looks like!
Cheers!
Chris
