Title: RYCA Build (From the group up)
Post by jandaso on 10/23/11 at 17:22:40

So my plan is to paint the frame the same color, do all the upgrades to the motor (97mm wiseco piston, stage 2 cam, etc...)18/45 chain conversion and finalize everything with the RYCA Kit on gloss black.

Today I started finishing the work I started a couple of days. I just had an hour and half to disassemble the bike completely inside my apart before my girlfriend came inside the apart with a huge mess...MAN IN A MISSION. I received the help of a friend that by the way he was performing, i could tell it was his first time using a tool.

Here are some pictures before and after.

This is me.

almost done!!! 30 minutes left!!
http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m638/jandaso/4a7642b7.jpg

time to clean and get rid of the evidence of what i just did in the entrance of my apart.
http://i1135.photobucket.com/albums/m638/jandaso/ba94c7eb.jpg

and everything is done just in time to have my GF back in the house...the carpet still dirty!! i told her it was my shoes from working with the bike outside lol

she thought it was kind of weird that i was making her stand there holding the dog while i took a picture  8-)

nice start. I sure hope you have a little more room to work with than the hallway though. Once that build starts, things are going to be tight in there.

I dont have a truck or a trailer so i needed to get this thing apart to send the parts to the respected places to start the work.

the motor im doing it in my desk in another room.... and the frame is going to be work in my friend's shop, the swing arm and the RYCA rear set (maybe is going to be modified by one of the members here)

PS this is going to be a slow work since most of the time im in school or working. I hope this to be my winter project and to have it ready for spring  ;D

hopefully your landlord doesn't make a surprise visit

True that. Is a big leasing corporation and i would rather destroy this place that my own. 8-) but im been careful making sure i dont mess anything that will end up costing me $$$.

PS still is fun having food, beverage, and the bathroom close to you!

That last pic of your girl, the dog, and the carpet look like an ad for Target department stores...

Anyone wanna PM me and tell me about the different cam stages or know where I can read up on them for our bike?

In your title, what does (from the group up) mean?

Title: Re: RYCA Build (From the group up)
Post by jandaso on 10/24/11 at 13:10:11

from the ground up:

From the most basic level to the highest level; completely.

Since I completely disassembled the bike to the "bones" (frame) or should i say ground and now i have to assemble it back to the ryca kit. Also, the engine is going to be semi disassemble since im getting a bigger piston, port & polishing the exhaust port and the valves port and stage 2 cam from lancer.

Ah.  I know what from the ground up means.  I just thought you were implying something else with "from the group up."

Lol...o man my friends GSR was stolen and it had one of those brake disk lock.

I will only use the bike to go to work or places where I know I can see it and not leave her unattended for a long period of time. During the night she would be sleeping inside the apart.

I'm not investing time and money so a piece of s... Comes along and takesit. I will blow holes in my walls with the 12 gauge If I hear something funny at night.

Title: Re: RYCA Build (From the group up)
Post by built2last66 on 11/01/11 at 15:23:08

The disc lock helps keep it from being rolled away, but that plus a chain pad locked around  a telephone pole will will keep it safe.. fork lock + disc lock + chain = waaaaay to much trouble for a theif.... I hope...  :-/

Post by jandaso on 11/01/11 at 15:41:08

I Will definetly have a nice chain to wrap it around a pillar or wtv and thru my frame but the bike is sleeping inside my apart As long as my leasing company don't see me putting the bike inside.

Just wanted to show my friend's bike. He owns a custom motorcycle shop here in Atlanta. He's the one doing the cuts and prepping the frame for a powder coat. He's the one with the special tools!!

I was just watching the video from his shop that you posted in another thread yesterday. It has a lot of shots of him riding around on that bike but no good shots of the bike itself. I'm glad you posted these; that's pretty sharp stuff!!

It's always hard to tell just from photos, but it looks to me like those wheels might be the same as on the Savage?
Maybe you could swap a set onto your bike if you found some on Fleabay?

im almost done with the motor, i just waiting for tomorrow to get the head to finish the paint and start putting back everything in to place. here a pic of the top of the engine. The people from bore tech sold me the same engine paint they use on my cylinder and with 2 coats this thing is looking pretty!

Be forewarned that their paint chips easily.

Title: Re: RYCA Build (From the group up)
Post by jandaso on 11/28/11 at 17:12:00

Yeah that's true. I just chip the cylinder fitting it on the motor. Man this suck. I can't imagine how the bottom of the engine is going
To look after a couple of rides because of the rocks.

Do you know any other paint that is better than the one from
Bore tech. Or what is the brand you used for the gray color on your engine.

Title: Re: RYCA Build (From the group up)
Post by splash07 on 11/28/11 at 20:30:40

I used high temp grill paint, it doesnt chip too bad and its easy to touch up, but hey, no one sees the bottom of the motor so who really cares.
