Title: 16 Inch Rear Wheel Post by plafferty2008 on 10/17/11 at 18:58:41 I have a 2003 LS650 and bought a 16 inch 83 GS550 rear wheel with the drum brake so I could install a knobby tire. I couldn't find a 15 inch knobby for the stock LS650 rear wheel. Contary to what I read in this forum, the GS550 wheel is not a direct replacement. It uses a bolted-on torque arm to the brake panel where the LS650 brake panel uses a slot mated to a tab on the swingarm. Am I missing something? Can anyone please give me some advice on how they did this swap? Thanks. |
Title: Re: 16 Inch Rear Wheel Post by BurnPgh on 10/17/11 at 19:02:22 use the savage brake panel. According to bikebandit all the 550 cast wheels are the same PN from '83-86. No promises at all if you picked up a spoked wheel. |
