I thought it was kind of weird when he mentions training the dog to hold on by hitting the brakes and making him fall off. Sounds like a rough way to learn how to ride.

If he had done it at speeds that hurt the dog,, the dog wouldnt have gotten back on,,

Alright, that dog looks HAPPY, i dont care how he got trained. Cruel measures would not get a dog to hop up there and relax enough to stay put.

If I tried this with my whippets it would not work, not because of the balancing act (which would not be a problem) but because we would be passing highly attractive items in motion such as running squirrels, birds, chipmunks, other dogs and cats...too tempting and they would bolt off the bike to give chase.

Heck, knowing my crew they would LOVE having a MC head start on going after some unsuspecting tree rat! Faster mom!  ;D

Below are 4 of mine flying around the park - all four feet off the ground!

Years ago when we were young and foolish we rode our heinz terrier on the tank of our Honda 125 dream. one day he noticed a bird alongside the road and took a header off the tank. Had scrape marks from the back of his head to under his tail as he did a slow summersalt. But he was glad to be picked up and back on the bike.

That's awesome. I've seen dogs riding on motorcycles before, but never like that. That dog is a full blown passenger rather than just a dog sitting on a motorcycle.
My great uncle used to have a Pug that would chill on the backseat of my Dad's motorcycle. Dixie. That dog always had on a bandana, ready to ride.

Cool story.  Dogs can be so amazingly intelligent.

We just got a new Pug a couple of weeks ago.  He's 16 weeks old now.  Took him for a 4 wheeler ride and he loves it!  He sits right down on the seat between my legs and lays his chest on the tank.  Hubby took him riding and he said the dog fell asleep on the tank.  But not with me, he was wanting to help me steer lol.  He's still young and clumsy, but I think he is gonna be a great passenger as he gets older.  Not quite like that Dog in the video, but now I have some incentive to really get him riding.
