Title: Close Call
Post by Angie on 10/06/11 at 08:04:52

On my way home yesterday, I came a few inches from getting hit by a car.  I was  cruising down the street, and I always keep an eye out for traffic pulling out from side streets.  I see a car pull up to the stop sign, from a side street on my left.  Im watching, its a teenage girl gabbing to her friend in the passenger seat.  She stops, looks and then right when I get in front of her - yup, she pulls out.  I sweved as far to the right as I could without hitting the curb and twisted the throttle to get out of her way.  She just barely missed hitting my back tire, THEN she finally notices me.  >:(  She backed way off, perhaps she got the message from my one finger salute.   ::)

I really dont think anyone should have a drivers license until they are at least 18 - supervised driving on a graduated permit starting at 17 - daylight hours only with licensed person over 21 for 6 months - nighttime hours added at 17 1/2 still require adult supervision - no passengers under 17 allowed maximum three people in the car/vehicle - no radios/cell phones/or other distracting devices allowed.......yes I propose to DICTATE driving PRIVELEDGES - not just hand over licenses to nit-wits!

Glad you didn't get hurt.. this kinda stuff happens to me all the time, but not SO close because I'm usually expecting them not to see me...

Glad you are safe Angie.  And yes, I would have given her the same salute!

Yes, they really do give driving licenses to anyone, yet they want us to be soooo careful while driving right. How hypocritical...

I know part of avoiding that was luck, but I'll take that.  Im not sure if I would have had time to stop or not, but that was the first thing that came to mind was "GO!" So, I did.

We do have a graduated Drivers liscence here in Iowa.  Since my kids aren't driving yet (Woo hoo!) I havent paid too much attention to it.  But I do know there is a curfew,a limit on passangers and such.  Today I might leave town just before school gets out.  ;)

Yea, I know my throttle saved my skin more than my brakes ever did.
