Title: So I fell over in neutral next to a state trooper
Post by built2last66 on 10/01/11 at 01:36:38

Didn't realize it was in neutral, I thought I down shifted all the way but somehow I ended up in N and didn't look at the green light... went to take off (I was U-turning on the highway) and fell right over... next to a state trooper... heh. Pretty embarrassing, he just asked from his window what happened and if I was ok.. I just knocked my rear view mirror loose and scuffed my left hand grip  >:(

Don't sweat it -- those with enough guts will tell you they have had something similar happen to them along the way.

I started to get off the bike once in a Hardees parking lot and found that I hadn't put down the kickstand.

roll on the ground

:o

I had a CB 750 for a while. I took it for a gentle ride through a construction site, stopped , got off,and walked away. Over it went, but I had stopped in a few inches of mud and it took a few seconds before it decided it was going to go over. ;D

Yea, as I get older I find it easier and easier to embarrass myself. ;D

On forgetting the kickstand,I've done that one at gas station.(2 different times!Once wasn't enough,I guess.)
This is not bike related, but I failed my first driving test by running a red light as a state trooper was coming through from the other way.No coming back from that one!(Figured I would throw that in since it involved a state trooper!)

"So I fell over in neutral next to a state trooper"... isn't that an old Willie Nelson tune?...

Thanks, sincerely, for sharing this, built2last66. Last week I attempted a seemingly normal low-speed left U-turn on pavement that sloped away to the left. By the time I noticed I'd run out of momentum, I was on my way to the ground. No witnesses, but the string of self-observations that followed was distinctly uncharitable. It's reassuring to learn I'm not alone in my lapses.

Good ole Wiilie is always in "high" gear falling over near state troopers. ;D

I can picture this in my head and it is funny.  ;D

I've gone to make a turn in first and found that the bike didn't want to be in first, that it'd rather bounce off 1st and go in neutral.

But thankfully I was quick enough on the draw and got it in gear.

That's happened a few times actually  :-?
