Title: A few tiny puffs of black smoke at start up
Post by built2last66 on 09/25/11 at 12:48:10

Hi, so I recently filled a few tiny leaks in my header to muffler adapter (I didn't use Serowbots tin can method, but I got em sealed none the less) and my bike was tuned/rejetted before I sealed the tiny leaks. When I start my bike with the choke on, leave it for 30 seconds, then turn off the choke and crank the throttle a few times I get a few puffs of black smoke, not very noticible unless you're watching real close, and you can smell it. Then it goes away after a few cranks. Being anal about my bike since I'm the second owner and don't know nuts, should I be worried about this?

Black smoke is fuel... If it's only a little, I wouldn't worry...

I'm almost afraid to ask, but, if you have a stock petcock, have you checked it out?

My petcock is in perfect working order, and sometime this week I'll have my RAASK drag pipe on, rejetted and retuned so Serowbot won't be getting any parts off my dead steel horsie... unless my cam chain tensioner is about to go...  :(
