I have $8 to spend on a new one for eye candy.. this $8 is burning a hole in my pocket darn it... skull and bones or something else "outlawish" :D 0%er here though... 8-) I've already been over eBay and found some sites in the U.K... |
Title: Re: Cosmetics: Etched brake fluid caps Post by verslagen1 on 09/04/11 at 21:13:50 do your own, buy a plain cap. make up a design, print it out and rubber cement it to the cap. take an x-acto knife to the design then have sand blasted. paint it if you like. |

Title: Re: Cosmetics: Etched brake fluid caps Post by built2last66 on 09/05/11 at 01:29:12 You two wise guys... I'm being serious here.. I MUST HAVE A MACHINE ETCHED BRAKE FLUID CAP... OR HEADS WILL ROLL...... my girlfriend keeps telling me I'm obsessed with my bike... but every time she comes over I notice the passenger pegs are mysteriously unfolded and ready for a ride :D I saw a skull and bones one on eBay for $8 + shipping about 3 weeks ago.. I shoulda grabbed it.. now all they have is that stupid harley davidson eagle looking one... and they have a chrome one but that will offset the alloy color... don't get me wrong, I'm all about the engine... but once she's wide open with that RAASK exhaust she's gotta be pretty too ;) |
Title: Re: Cosmetics: Etched brake fluid caps Post by MotoBuddha on 09/05/11 at 07:27:32 You can start by taking a belt sander to the stock one to get rid of the DOT info. |

That sounds pretty do able![/quote] Very do-able. I did it on my other bike. Start with the belt sander, then finish up with increasingly finer grit sandpaper. Put the sandpaper on the table and rub the cover back and forth so it doesn't get rounded over. |
Title: Re: Cosmetics: Etched brake fluid caps Post by built2last66 on 09/05/11 at 11:37:40 Then I could probably find someone to engrave something. |
Title: Re: Cosmetics: Etched brake fluid caps Post by MotoBuddha on 09/05/11 at 14:31:26 Or the wheel on a sanding station might be more pleasant to use because you wouldn't have deal with the bumping from the belt seam. I didn't have a sanding station, so I just used a handheld belt sander. |
