Title: Thinking of buying a GS500... Post by Wake51 on 08/25/11 at 08:38:10 Well the time has come and I think I'm ready to add to the family and explore the motorcycle world outside of the realm of cruisers. Needless to say, my Savage will NOT be sold. 8-) I've found a lot of GS500s going on Craigslists for great deals. I'm particularly fond of the styling of the 500Es. Well as luck would have it, I stubmled upon one on a local area Craigslist add. http://stlouis.craigslist.org/mcy/2556374638.html 17,000 miles and asking $1750. The bike blue books for $1650 in excellent condiiton. Owner says tires are 85% or better. I'm preparing to go look at it tomorrow, but was wondering if anyone could give me some inside tips on what things to look for/watch out for on this bike. Does it have any unique hidden mechanical problems? (not unline our cam chain or oil leak) Also, what would be a fair asking price? I figured I would start negotiations at $1400 assuming very good condition and no mechanical flaws. -Thanks! |

Sprocket teeth, and chain... Gas tank, open cap and look for rust... Etc... GS500's are slow to warm up... So I've heard... Other than that, nice bikes... |
