Title: Re: Different wheels? Post by Drifter on 08/22/11 at 06:20:36 Found it..Thanks. I have 550 wheels from an 83 drum rear brake. Looks to be an intereresting project with chain drive. |
Title: Re: Different wheels? Post by verslagen1 on 08/22/11 at 07:07:53 great, but a 550? doesn't that have a 17" wheel? You'll have to put a low profile tire on. the drive and brake hub should slip right in. Keep the OD to a little over 25" if you can. |
Title: Re: Different wheels? Post by Drifter on 08/22/11 at 09:02:44 Nope its a 16 inch wheel 130-90-16 tire. Front is a 19 inch. |
Title: Re: Different wheels? Post by verslagen1 on 08/22/11 at 09:16:55 Cool, that's what I got. The Dunlop D401 rear tire has very thick tread. ;) Most likely, it was actually a GS450. To fit the front disk, you need to cut the OD down to match the savage and fiddle with the spacers. |
Title: Re: Different wheels? Post by BurnPgh on 08/22/11 at 14:34:57 rear direct swap is 83-86 gs550. The 450 is too narrow. By the way...anyone need a rear gs450 cast wheel? I got one thats doing nothing. |
