Title: Just put new F-4 and A-10 video on Youtube
Post by Gyrobob on 08/19/11 at 21:55:34

Some of my USAF buddies saw that someone had published a video I did in 1985 about the Phantom II crewmember.  It was a pretty ragged copy, so I found the original VHS tape, and put it on under the title "The Original Phantom II Crewmember F-4 _ A-10"

There is also an A-10 shoot-em-up video there.

Click here to view them:   http://youtu.be/rdL93jwVK-c

or,... do a search for gyrobobb  (I had to use an additional b)

or,... search for crewtrib

The F-4 was proof positive that if you had a big enough engine you could get a brick to fly.

The A-10 was simply function over form.  Who couldn't love a flying bomb rack mounted to a BFG?

Thanks for the video.

I think the most beautiful fighter ever built is the F111, with the Avro Arrow a very close second.

"The F-4 was proof positive that if you had a big enough engine you could get a brick to fly."
The Messerschmidt BF109 proved that in 1939.

Ive heard it said that the A-10 was the prettiest plane in the world, by men who were on the battlefield & in need of air support.

The guys I knew that flew the A-10 LOVED it.  They said all that existed in the universe when you pulled the trigger was that gun going off!!!, ..spewing out 70 30mm bullets every second,.... and their body was strapped to that gun!!!

They said the same thing about F-4s in Nam.

The F-4 had TWO big enough engines.

I worked on Marine Corps F4's for about 3 years in the late 70's, early 80's. Very impressive bird. My job was to take care of the aircrew survival equipment. Fixed parachutes, life rafts, helmets, oxygen masks, etc. I also went aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea. Our squadron had 15 F4's when we left frisco, cmae home with 13. One fell off the flight deck when it was being parked by a tow tractor. The other one caught on fire on the catapult, so they just lanched it so the pilot and co-pilot could eject. Bopth ejection seats worked as advertised as well as the parachutes and life rafts. I ended my military life in late 1981, a couple months before I would have been sent to school to learn how to work on the F18's. Here's a picture of one of my squadron's jets on the catapult.
