Does anyone know if you can use a newer 5 speed clutch side cover on an 86 Savage? I did notice some difference in oil passages.

Do they use the same gasket part number? If so, they are likely compatible.

If not, then you will have to figure out where they are different and then see if you can work around the differences.

Thanks oldfeller, I thought maybe someone had already looked into this. I really think the gaskets would be different, now whether one or the other gasket could allow the use on an older bike, would have to be looked into.

The clutch covers are interchangable.
I have an '02 clutch cover on a '88 case.

oh don't be so anal.
the covers are interchangeable,
so are the gaskets.
