Title: quick question about brake line & reservoir
Post by mmosel on 08/12/11 at 16:43:07

I just lowered my bars. The angle of the brake line, where it is attached to the fluid reservoir, needs to be adjusted. My question is, if I loosen that nut/bolt where it is attached, will I lose fluid? Or can I loosen it as is to adjust the angle? Thanks!

Loosen it, just enough to turn it,... don't touch the lever while it's loose... ...and hope for the best... ;)...

I did mine, okay...

Thanks, I did it.  No leaks, phew.

I would keep positive pressure on the line by squeezing the lever.
loosen the bolt till you can turn it, then adjust it and lock it back down quickly.
don't let any get on painted surfaces and wipe it off quickly if it does.

better a little fluid on the ground then air in the line.

Serowbot is right.  The trick is to loosen it enough to get it to move, but not so loose it leaks.  So,... loosen it a tenth of a turn, then try to move it.  If it won't move, try another tenth, then try to move it.  After just a little loosening it will move with difficulty.  If you keep it tight enough so it is hard to move, it PROBABLY won't leak or get any air in the system.

If it does leak,.. no biggy,.. just bleed the line as usual.

Good luck.
