Title: Brake Fluid Level Check
Post by Routy on 07/27/11 at 22:31:41

Looking on the front window side of the master cylinder what could the word "lower", and the little "line" w/ it possibly mean ?
No, I don't have any book on this. And logical thinkin didn't work this time.

Screw the window.... ;D...
... just pop the top, and make sure the fluid level will clear the rubber gasket... as fluid descends, the gasket is sucked down... so make sure that it is accordioned to the smallest size...(you'll get it, when you see it)...
As far as I can tell... the window just shows you, that there's some fluid in there... :-?...
(when the window rots away, lots of people just hammer a solid, freeze plug in there, anyway)... ;D...

Thanks,.....thats perdy much what I did. I filled w/ wheel turned to the right on the ss. (most level position) When parked w/ wheel turned to the left, the level will be above the edge,.....then being dependent on the lid not leaking. I guess thats ok,.....except the little breather cuts in the lid made me a little nervous. Not rocket science I'm sure, but brake fluid on the gas tank........not a good thing ! :'(

Serow and Routy, the way my bars are mounted, rotated, whatever...I have to park my Savage a certain way and turn the bars all the way one way (forgot which) just to get it full. Not a problem, but a Newb (and others) should be aware that fluid can leak on your purdy gas tank. So put a good rag on the tank and be careful removing, and replacing the tiny screws in the aluminum. They seem about ready to strip straight from the factory.   :)
