Title: Has anyone run a hot coil on their savage?

Just wondering if anyone has run a Hot coil and what kind of results they got.  Really wondering if this will have a negative effect on the CDI box?

Good luck with that.

Folks in the past tried this trick and wound up searching for a coil that just about matched the resistance and impedance of the stock coil just so the black box would work with it.

It didn't come out much "hotter" if any.   More improvement was seen by going to the small center electrode palladium tipped NKG plug which would fire reliably under adverse conditions (oil, poor mix ratio, etc).

Now that they've done it, these same folks have to question if they really got anything for the efforts expended searching all through the alternatives.

Check your real basic problem -- if your scoot won't fire the plug to start her up, check your battery for old and weak.   When voltage (under cranking loads) falls under 10 volts the black box won't try to fire the plug.   What screws with your head is that the starter will roll the engine over at 10 volts -- somewhat slowly, but it will roll it over.

Yeah, I think there was one.
and I think he did need a new CDI after he tried it.
