Title: Wont turn over sometimes...
Post by JayMI on 07/23/11 at 19:37:59

Heres the problem I've been having with my 2000 Savage ....

After I ride the bike a distance (like 20 miles) and shut it off, sometimes if I go to restart it, it will not turn over. It has full power though. There are times it doesn't do it, and then it will.

You can jump the starter from the battery during the times it won't turn over and it will fire right up.

Any ideas? Thanks

Mite be the start switch irself is dirty inside,, if you take it apart, make sure you are in a place where you can find small bits that hit the floor,, its easy to drop stuff outta there, A clrean floor & a towel on the floor, so stuff doesnt hit & bounce & roll can be a lifesaver,.

Could be the starter solenoid.  Sometimes heat causes relays to become intermittent.
