Common miss-conception. Because we are central to the Great Lakes we have very humid weather here. The temperature will "only" be 97 but the humidity will make it feel like 116.6. BTW@ normal for this time of year is around 80, not counting the humidex, which normally adds 5-15 degrees.
When I was a teen I met a girl and her family from the southern States  on the beach in August who had winter coats with them because they thought it might snow. ;D

& when I was in Odessa ( West Texas) I saw a college friend from Chicago walking in early winter, freezin his tail off.. I ha a coat I could spare so I gave him one,, He figured since he could play outside in Chicago sometimes in a tee shirt with snow on the ground,, he wouldnt need one ever in West Texas,, OHH he was wrong, wrong , wrong..
& yea,. Hot PLUS Humid = rough,, & so does cold + humid, cold hurts to the bone..

So, what you're saying is , you get used to it, by getting used to staying out of it...

Me too!... ;D...

LOL I will complain anyway Serow.

Here in AZ it's only bearable because the humidity is usually non existent. If it was 115 plus humidity index, I would lose my mind.

I haven't ever gotten used to the heat here.
We don't get enough of it at a steady pace
to get used to it.
Now rain, and snow, oh yeah you know that
is a normal. If you can't take either one, you
need to find somewhere else to live..
Now when growing up in Fla, we lived out doors.
I had a tan year around.. :)
BTW, you could send us 20 degrees of that heat
and it would be very nice..:) kim

11 pm and it is 85 degrees and with a heat index of 90. Tomorrow is supposed to be 98 with heat index of 108 or so. I will be going to my mom's house on a little lake in the woods for refreshing cool water and a mountain breeze

Here in the North West temps have been really abnormal. We are like 10 t0 20 degrees below normal. We might have one complete summer without it hitting 90. I think todays high temp was like 68.

Yeah, and here in Germany we are having the
COLDEST summer EVER!

we have been stuck at 60Fh (16ish C°) for weeks!   ...weird.

the "experts" said it was going to rain here all week, and we have not seen drop one.

Looks like I'm only supposed to be 83o  :) Looks like good riding weather, now if I could just find a good excuse to take a 1/2 day at work I would be set  ;D

103 for me!  Woohoo!  It was already 80 when I got up this morning.  I like it HOT!   ;)

It was 81 at 10 last night here. My thermometer says 104 right now and its kinda shaded...lol

Our lows have been excedeing our normal highs. No end in sight for the heat and no rain forecast. Grass is burning up(and we have idionts going around starting hay fires to of all things. Good way to get shot!)
Expect everything from hay to corn soybeans to take a big jump in price. Your going to feel the squeeze in the grocery store soon as well.

Note that my area isn't even listed with
a temp.. :-?
We got close to 70 today. Tomorrow is
supposed to be closer to 8o and Sunday
even hitting 80..We will see. As then
cooling down again to possibly 70.
Very cool summer this year so far.
We have only had 3 days so far of 80
degree weather.  :( kim

The news yesterday showed a rooftop temp in downtown Memphis of 180.6*F. Reading taken with a digital point and shoot heat gun. Ground temps were around 98-104 depending on which part of town you were in. Without the heat index.

Night temps are so high that the bell peppers go from blossom to rotten without forming a true pepper. Need about 10 degrees cooler at night. But it is making the beans grow like gangbusters.

Pond water level has dropped a foot since early June. That is pretty significant in a 2+ acre pond.

Underhood temps got so high yesterday that I lost a cylinder on the mini truck. Thermostat seized shut, a spark plug popped out, and 1/2 the plug wires got fried (dual plug 4 banger). Dash warped last week.

Just walked the beagle. 0500 hours, low 80s, but a nice little breeze. Tolerable. Have to work 1/2 day, temps projected to be high 90s with an index of 112F. A/C is broken in the Freightliner.

Oh well, it IS the South.

We had 105 Friday. I don't know what the heat indices were. I DO know that I took the bike to work and had a beautiful ride in and something that has never happened before on the way home. It was so hot that there was not a single even slightly cooler breeze on the ride home. :o It was like standing in front of a blast furnace.  :o I have never been that hot and miserable on my bike before. The heat actually hurt my eyes.  :'( It was only 100 yesterday and it threatened rain but rain never came.  :'(  It's supposed to  be dropping into the 80's today but it's already 74 @ 7am. I love the heat but Friday made me think that that's what it would be like to ride in H@!!  ;D
