Title: Hard luggage for 2007 S40
Post by Supernova on 07/04/11 at 11:03:54

Hi everyone,
Newbie to the forum here.

Has anyone seen or heard of hard luggage for the S40? I don't mind the soft-sided bags, but I'm more interested in hard luggage - something more durable, lockable, and secure.

Corbin created some great lookinghard saddlebags and trunks for the Suzuki Boulevard M109R, C109R, and C50. They work with the bike's design... really quite classy. Check the Corbin website under "New Stuff", then "Just Released", then look under "2009 Boulevard M90". They make  (Sorry, this is my first post and, apparently, I can't insert a hyperlink yet.)

As usual, there's not much out there for the S40. So, it's custom work which means major $$$.

Any other possible manufacturers? Or do S40 owners just have the short end of the stick? Many thanks in advance for info.

I had to do a few mods to the bike but I have these.

They aren't the most sucure bags made. The fiberglass isn't very thick but I've had them on for about 3 years and they're hanging in there pretty well. They aren't huge but they hold enough for me. On one side I have a small tool kit, rain gear, bungies, and theres still room for more. I usually keep the other side mostly empty and use it for my thermos of coffee for work. Here's the website, the LN model comes in white, black, or silver.

Search for LeatherLyke saddlebags....

Requires the sissybar fender rails.  Includes kit to move the turn signals to the license plate mount.  Mine are over 6 years old.

AL and Paladin,

Many thanks for your quick responses. The Mutazu products look great and seem adaptable to the S40. Will check them out. Will I really need to get the sissy bar first WITH the backrest? Any racks without the back rest? Not ever planning to have a passenger.

Happy 4th of July! I'm based in British Columbia... we've already had our long weekend.

Yes I'm curious on how you mounted the GIVI E21 cases to your bike. I have a set on my Burgman and would love to find a mount for them for my S40

I used some Alum diamond plate I had lying around and bolted it to the old mounts for the AMCO bags I had. Had a tip over and busted up the RH one so had to find a replacement and the GIVI showed up on CL in Tacoma. Had a luggage rack also with that set up (BMW from the turn light I think) and used it to put a GIV trunk on the sidecar tug. AMCO bags used an expanding rubber plug to mount on the brackets that I adapted to fit and made a couple to work on the Savage. Not smart enough to post pictures yet so will have to e-mail them to whoever wants them if you leave me a PM with a good e-mail. Max

Supernova, If you want HARD Luggage, someone on here had .50 cal. ammo cans. It was quite a fad a couple of years ago. Anybody remember? Welcome Super.

LOL! Boofer, my bike is a lady! Really... ammo cans?? Thanks for the welcome.

Max, try attaching pics. Click on the "Browse" button below your reply window and find the pic files on your harddrive that you want to post. I think we'd all like to see your creative solution as I was also wondering about the Givi trunks. So far, the Mutazu saddlebags look like the best alternative.
