Title: new pics of the long savage with a 200 tire

First. Here are some old threads I started about this build.

http://suzukisavage.com/cgi-bin/YaBB.pl?num=1278096857

Built a new swing arm to accept a 5.5"x16" wheel with a 200/60/16 tire. Got a master and caliper from a Harley for the rear brakes. Widened the rear fender and made a whole new seat. (seat still needs a little more padding up front to look a little better and flow with the tank better).

Stripped the tank to bare metal because I had to repair a leak on the front left corner. I really liked the look of bare metal so I wire wheeled the crap out of it and painted a black stripe down the center. The bars I made, I also wire wheeled the crap out of. So the tank and bars are bare metal with Gibbs penetrant on them to keep them from rusting. We'll see how well that works. It's been a couple weeks and so far no rust.

I guess that's about it. enjoy. And yea, yea, yea. I know it looks like a hill climber.  ;D

I think that's the first time I've seen a usable rear disc on this bike. Well done, I really like the bars and choice of stickers too... http://www.graphicsgrotto.com/nextgensmileys/images/smsmileys51.gif

The repurposed fanny pack is a nice touch.

Nice! Kinda funny that the rotor on the back is bigger than on the front. Shoulda swapped them out.  ;D

Just a little right up towards the very front of the swingarm on the the bottom. Very little on the top. Put a couple strips of sticky velcro (the padded side) where it was taking the paint off. That seemed to do the trick.  I've put about 2000 miles on since the new swingarm and it's holding up very well. Looks like I'm just about due for a new piece on the bottom. Was really surprised how well the velcro is holding up to the slap.

Thanks skeebo. I made about 4 different styles for it. Two different types of mini apes and 2 other styles of drag bars. I didn't think any of them went well with the bike so I made those. They are definately the ticket. Thanks.

btw. anyone need some bars?

Thanks. It's a blast!!!!  The exhaust is just a straight pipe. 2.5" with a small baffle. Made it from some mandrel bent pieces.

Seems that would also make the weight on the rear tire less, makin it lock up all that much easier.

Yea. I suppose that would be true. But it really doesn't feel like it.

Here's my burnout video from sturgis 2010

There was a reality tv show being filmed there and they filmed the whole thing also. It was "Full Throttle Salloon" on tru tv. They showed two clips of the burnout on the actual show last Nov.  This was before I put the 200 on.

bike looks awesome! any chance you can go into further detail about the rear disc brake? did you need to use a new hub or did the harley disc brake and caliper fit the suzuki stock hub? thanks

Thanks. And no. Harley stuff won't even come close to fitting anything stock on the rear. It's all custom and Harley stuff. Custom 16x5.5 rear wheel with a 200 Tire. The brake stuff is Harley. Master off an old sportster. Rear caliper is froma a dyna if I remember right. The rotor is what was made for that custom wheel. Hope this helps.
