Title: Starter re-engaging after bike started and running
Post by Aktlingit on 06/28/11 at 18:09:45

Recently when starting my 98 LS650 after starting the bike and pull in the clutch lever there is a pause then the bike trys and does restart it self when it is already running.
Any ideas if this has something to do with the starter solinoid (sp), decompression lever?  It does this in neutral and when the clutch lever is pulled in.

Any one encounter a similiar problem?

Look at the starter button,, key off,, push the button & release, watch it closely,, is it hanging up?

I don't know if the older Savages have a cut off switch for the headlight like the newer bikes do. If so equipped, if headlight isn't on when bike is running then starter switch is sticking. I haven't had that problem on my 07 S40 but it is a common problem on the Suzuki Burgman 650s. I'd go ahead and clean your starter switch with rubbing alcohol or contact cleaner.

Most likely your relay is stuck give the fender a sharp rap next to the if switch
