Title: Clutch not fully disengage
Post by tixin on 06/22/11 at 13:06:19

I squeezed the lever all the way, but the clutch won't fully disengage.  The lever by the transmission is stiff and moves up and down as I operate the clutch.  Tried to adjust the cable to no avail.  Maybe I didn't do it right.  Please advise. Thanks.

Soo, if you put it in Neutral & start it & pull the clutch in & stick it in 1st, the bike starts rolling?

Starting is another problem in my other thread! If I try to start in first gear with clutch compress, the bike will want to roll forward. If I try to push it in first gear, there is quite a resistance.

How much "wiggle" is there to the clutch lever before it starts pulling n the cable?

It's a wet clutch.  It doesn't "slip" very well unless the engine is running and oil is circulating.
Like JOG said.. get it running 1st, then see how the clutch works.

The bike has 3,800 miles ... and I have not logged a single mile on it yet :( !!  There is virtually no "wiggle" on the hand lever. Thanks.

Put some Sea Foam in the oil and that it run some,Should clear up the problem.

+1

normal for the bike

- try to roll it with clutch in - very hard if it's been sitting
- start it in 1st with clutch in, "jumps" forward a little

my guess is your clutch's okay

GREAT!  That's one worry off my mind.  Now I can concentrate on starting the bike.  Thanks.
