Title: So would an EMGO 12" univ shorty be REALLY loud? Post by SoE on 06/10/11 at 19:22:10 I'm looking at replacement mufflers (for pretty cheap) but I have neighbors and stuff (not to mention my own kids). Would that pipe sound like a giant, pissed off hornet coming in at night? Anybody heard one on a SS? |

Title: Re: So would an EMGO 12" univ shorty be REALLY lou Post by jef.savage on 06/10/11 at 20:06:56 I had a couple on my S50. Pretty much just a straight pipe. In other words, yes. |
Title: Re: So would an EMGO 12" univ shorty be REALLY lou Post by SoE on 06/10/11 at 20:15:19 Good to know. So, what's a good loud(er) muffler that won't make the neighbors hate my guts/ wife kick my a$$ that will install without strategerie? Thanks guys, -d |

http://www.dslretorts.com/Paladin/images/NewMuffler.jpg My new muffler is amazingly quiet, especially since it has a hole straight through (see pipe that will slip up the muffler!) It is a Patriot Exhaust H3346 -- 1 3/4" inlet, outlet, 3" diameter case, 26" long. Also available in 24" or 22". It is naked, no pipes. I simply cut a piece of 1 3/4" tailpipe, cut about 10 degrees for the inlet, straiget for the outlet, brazen, painted. |

I really liked the sound but they were just a bit too loud so I ordered this stuff: http://www.jcwhitney.com/dunstall-style-megaphone-muffler/p2006467.jcwx It took about 10 minutes per muffler to install. Now I'm finally really happy with the sound and look. |

How about some pics of this muffler mounted? I was curious how it looked on a s40 because its pretty long. |
Title: Re: So would an EMGO 12" univ shorty be REALLY lou Post by WD on 06/11/11 at 14:09:34 That Dunstall is what I'm going to run on the Honda, one on each side. 12" shorty is beyond loud. Your neighbors will think a Vietnam War era Huey medivac helicopter is landing in the yard. Want to really make it loud? A 26" piece of chain link fence top rail tubing, cut at a 75 degree angle, you will think you are living on a fire base. Shutdown backfire puts a 105mm howitzer to shame... |

That sounds awesome :D My neighbors across the street just had a baby. I imagine there would be words if I did that. Tempting though. I split the back yard into a dog run/ kids area and I have all kinds of fence stuff left over..... |
Title: Re: So would an EMGO 12" univ shorty be REALLY lou Post by Z on 06/11/11 at 16:14:39 I have no problems cracking my pipes first thing in the morning. [smiley=evil.gif] I have neighbors that think it's just fine to sit outside and talk LOUDLY at 5 am. [smiley=angry.gif] I also have a bunch of spoiled little demon children around me that are screaming and yelling and carrying on ALL DAY LONG. [smiley=shocked.gif] Cracking my pipes is the least I can do to repay them for annoying me. ;D ;D I have a Jardine muffler that is nice and loud. ;D |

Amen to that brother. I like to keep the peace, but if nobody else cares, why should we? :) |
Title: Re: So would an EMGO 12" univ shorty be REALLY lou Post by jef.savage on 06/12/11 at 10:19:30 Very easy install. No rejet. It's hard to get a sense of the length from this angle but you can see it extends beyond the swingarm. http://i1028.photobucket.com/albums/y343/jefscoville/apr2011.jpg |
