Title: Loses Power Post by mudflapeagle on 06/10/11 at 15:08:51 Just bought a 2004 Savage, with 7K miles; drained and cleaned tank and filled with hi-octane. When I take it on Interstate and get it up to 75 mph for a few minutes, it will all of a sudden lose power, dropping to 40-45 mph--I don't have a tach. At least once, it has completely died. My next move is to rebuild the carb. Could it be anything else?

Title: Re: Loses Power Post by verslagen1 on 06/10/11 at 15:20:37 petcock is vacuum operated. the vac hose will crack and leak with age. no vac, no gas. turn it to prime and if it picks up right away replace it.
