Title: Odometer rollback? Too blue? Post by Scott2.0 on 06/09/11 at 15:05:33 I just got my 2004 LS650 on Tuesday with 954 miles on it. It now shows a little over 1,000. This never crossed my mind when I was checking it out but could a bike with less than 1k on it show this much blue? Did I get shafted? It's too late now but it's making me wonder. Sorry for the blurry pics. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2523/5816541784_6c82e67772.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/51212500@N03/5816541784/) http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2287/5815974235_078954eb79.jpg (http://www.flickr.com/photos/51212500@N03/5815974235/) |
Title: Re: Odometer rollback? Too blue? Post by verslagen1 on 06/09/11 at 15:19:40 They'll blue quite quickly if they have wax or oil on them. And 1000 miles is enough time to turn a hot pipe blue. Someone said 15 minute warm up was all it took for him. |

Post by justin_o_guy2 on 06/09/11 at 15:31:00 I had 5,000 miles on mine, No Blue,, I was sitting in the drive, listening to the valves, racked the gas a few times & when I looked down, the pipe looked like yours.. & I was PISSTAWFF... but, I got used to it quick enough,, Now, I think its looking good.. |
Title: Re: Odometer rollback? Too blue? Post by Scott2.0 on 06/09/11 at 15:36:10 Different altitudes maybe? I pulled the brass cap of the idle mixture screw and turned it out about 3/4 of a turn but I still think I'm running a bit lean. |

What's it doing when you shut off? |

Maybe not a full backfire but more like a puff of air. Also, when cruising around 30-35mph in 3rd it seems to hesitate every so often which leads me to believe it's fuel starved. I know that could be caused by a million other things though. |
Title: Re: Odometer rollback? Too blue? Post by stinger on 06/10/11 at 01:47:38 way too rich I guess. I had mine richened when I bought it new and 45,000 miles later the only bluing I have is maybe 1/2 inch from the header. |
