Title: White wall tire paint?
Post by mr. s on 06/07/11 at 10:05:52

I am looking for some white wall paint that will work on my tires. I have found a couple products online, but want to hear some of your input first.

I tried Ranger tire paint. Front rubber is Avon, rear Bridgestone. Same treatment on both (wire brush, sand paper, solvent). The rear peeled right off, at first wash. Front is still standing, but it turned brownish. I pressure washed the stuff from rear, 'cuz it was ugly peeled and chipped. I left the front for now. Look:

I was hoping that someone had tried that paint from iceland already and could tell me that they were thrilled with it.
How much was it with shipping?

Yes, I am excited to post pictures when I am done. I just finished my own solo seat. Took off the fenders. Added a sweet bar end mirror. Wrapped the handles in black leather. I'll be getting my exhaust and wrap soon, as well as my brake light and licence plate mount.  ;D Then I need to decide on painting....

My friend Doug swears by satin white Rustoleum brush on for his Drifter. It even sticks to Chinese tires.

I have not tried it yet, but since my tires are crap anyways...

Maxxis/Cheng Shin really screwed up by getting out of the cruiser tire market.

That is one of the most legit things I have ever heard of.

It's almost too legit...

Wonder how many tires you can do with one can. My tires will be due at the end of this riding season, I'll be looking for white wall tires, are they more expensive? Is it cheaper to by regular tires and paint them?

he said one can is more then enough to do two tires.   and ive looked everywhere, finding white wall tires for that bike is like searching for a unicorn.  I dont think the mythical beast exists

What's the biggest front tire the Savage will take without a front fender? Come on, who's got the biggest?

Fenderless? Depends on the brand of tire. You can shoe horn a 120 Dunlop 440 in there, can't fit a 110 cheapy chi-com. I've seen some 100/90's that wouldn't fit, the old measurements were completely different.

Why would you want to compromise your handling with a wider tire? Get a 90/90-19 or swap a VS800 (S50) wheel on it and run an 80/90-21, which IS available as a white wall.

Relacing the rear hub into a 16" hoop would net you hundreds of tire choices...

Actually, for the front I would like a taller tire, not necessarily wider. The rear I cant change the side anyway, the fender I have on is about an inch away from the tire.
