Title: Simple way to hide voltage regulator?
Post by SoE on 06/07/11 at 06:58:56

I want to use a stock fender without the passenger seat. Any ideas on a simple way to reposition the voltage reg?

Easiest way is to put it in the air box, plenty of room in front of the filter and plenty of slack in the wires to put it there.

I relocated mine on top of battery box.

Mine has been in the airbox for roughly 11-12 years, no problems. Just take off the air box door and leave it off. Side cover will cover the hole just fine.

Thanks for the ideas guys. I put it in the airbox and it fits in the back perfectly.

Now I gotta start smoothing out that fender......

I was thinking about doing the same thing.

Is it ok to put it in the air box while still using the stock filter? Or do you have a cone filter setup? Would keeping the air box door off affect how the filter performs?

Thanks for the help.

I still have the stock filter and the door on, no ill effects after a couple of years

Stock paper filter (Emgo replacement, they make a bunch of the OEM stuff anyway).
