Title: TM Series Mikuni
Post by twheelie on 06/03/11 at 13:42:29

Has anyone had sucess with a flat slide TM Mikuni instead of the VM roundslide, UFO & DAJ? Starting with a RYCA partial kit and building a hot daily driver, stage II cams, ported and fully piped that is likely to see trackday time 1,000 ft elev and lower. Any input (carb size, needles, jets, accel pump or not) is greatly appreciated. I have shop resources and experience incl dyno, but don't want to jump in blind. After all, it's supposed to be fun...right? Thanks! -Tim :-/

when i set a tm40 up on the neighbors savage i used a step ring i had from my suzuki dr650 project. i seem to recall 142.5mj, 15pilot, a 40 ap nozzle jet with the needle on the 3rd slot down. this was on a stock bike.
edit: the ap delay can be set at the top of the rod with a Popsicle stick or .100". this is a good starting point and worked for me both on the dr and the savage but no dyno here.

They aren't cheap (or specifically for the savage) but TM40 kits are available from Procycle here (http://www.procycle.us/bikepages/dr650.html).  I think adapting one of these to a savage would be pretty easy.  That guy 'Truckinduc' mounted a TM40 to his bike also.

Thanks! I'm getting some good responses, but the TM40 is probably too big. I'll post my findings. Working w/Sudco at the moment.
