Title: Re: Black Falcon Post by mick on 05/16/11 at 23:23:52 Where do these people keep finding engines for these bikes ? Anyway that one shown is very nice looking, but if I was going to try for a land speed record , I would want to do a few dozen slower runs first 70-75-80- 100 and so on, the rear end does not look like it would hold together, virtualy no frame up front. I wonder what he will sell them for ? Probably J.Leno would buy one,he loves the old Vincent's |

Title: Re: Black Falcon Post by WD on 05/17/11 at 20:25:19 My neighbor had a Brough in pieces in his garage when I was a kid. It lived in the back of a 65 Ranchero. Right next to his 50 Indian Chief Roadmaster. There was an alomost complete Black Shadow in the corner under the workbench, in several pieces. Wonder what his kids got for them when the old goat kicked off? I know the Chief went for mid-5 figures, hadn't run in decades. That top bike is pretty, but it looks kinda spindly. You guys see where Yamaha got the design for the Virago, right? Engine as stressed member, offset cylinders... |

Title: Re: Black Falcon Post by WD on 05/18/11 at 17:49:48 Anyone I could get my hands on other than the Black Prince. At least, I think that was the one with full body fairings/coamings. Kinda looked like an upside down clawfoot bathtub with two feet broken off. But, I'd take one if it was given to me, bodywork can be changed... Not knocking the shadow, just giving Yamaha credit for stealing a GOOD design (for a change). |
