Title: Renewed Registration
Post by gerald.hughes on 05/16/11 at 08:54:59

I just renewed the registration on the Flea Flicker for five years, and it was less than $100.  That is less than $20 a year to register the bike.  Now that is what I call a deal.

Yes that is a great deal.
Just another good reason
to be proud you own it. :) kim

Only allowed a max of 2yr registration here, and ours' always expire Dec 31. I have only been registering mine for 1yr at a time since it's not my primary source of transportation  :-[

I had no idea Arizona registration was so cheap.  Here in Texas it's almost the same as a car ($50/year) to register a bike, and no discount for downtime.. buy an old bike that's been sitting under a tarp and you have to pay back-taxes on each year.  Registration cost is one of the reasons I now only have one bike.

you mean you have to register bikes or other vehicles that have been in storage ? that sucks.

In Mass we have to renew our registations every year  $20 by Dec 31 and have it inspected every year for $20. Then on top of that we have to pay an excise tax if it is registered, Im glad that it is only $5 tho.

Registration costs me more than my insurance.

I have never done that, and I have bought a LOT of set up bikes.

Interesting.  Maybe it is a Travis county thing and I am just lucky  ::)

But yeah, the paper shufflers would get more money from me if they cut their rates a bit.  I'll stick with the DR650 and bicycle for now.

Holy crap! I guess I have it fairly good here in NC - $13 annual inspection (car $31.50) within 90 days of annual license renewal $18 (car $28) - bare minimum liability insurance on the bike $104 /yr - then the tax bill will come after the car is inspected and tags renewed $20/yr so the bike costs me $155/yr just to keep it licensed/inspt/ins/tax.....I guess that might not be as bad as some other places.

My motorcycle insurance in Mass costs me over $700. As much as my car. I have comprehesive and collision on it because i have a loan on it and am considered a "new" driver because i havent had my license for 3 yrs yet. I cant even take the insurance off of it during the winter because of the loan.

my son was able to drop his insurance down some during the winter months - on his R6 with loan and such he has to have full coverage...another perk to having a paid for vehicle the insurance costs can be controlled a little bit.

Whoooa $700! I don't have a loan out on mine but its still only $300 and I'm considered a new driver too

$86 a year, full coverage, on a full custom. 24 years on two wheels doesn't net me any discount. Registration is going to be right at $100, need a new plate.

$200 bucks for 2 bikes, 2 drivers and almost full cover.

Spot do you have comp and collision on the bike? I have to carry it and can unregister the bike for the winter because of the loan. I would love to know who you have for insurance and i might look into it.

Wow Paladin... what did the $115 cover?

Our registration renewal is $16 a year, I think we can get up to 2 years at a time.  It used to be renewed every July, but they finally got smart and made it February each year.  No more worrying about renewing it mid-season.  So last time, I got the year plus the 7 months.  Personalized plates are $31 a year!  And we can even get a vertical plate which is $41 for the initial plate, then the same $16 renewal each year.  I don't know if its required or not.  D@mn, I need to read up on that!  The old Savage may need that.  Can't remember what the yearly "personal property" taxes are on the bikes, but they aren't much.

Our insurance is $500 a year for all 3 bikes.  Full coverage on hubby's C90 and my bike, and then least necessary on my son's '87.  When we added the '87, our rate actually went down $3 that year!!  How 'bout that!  lol

Paladin wins!

looks like living in CA and having everything (on the scavenger hunt) within a couple of miles carries a price tag

VA is $50 for 2 years
county property tax is $40
annual inspection is $18

$8 for Registration for tax, $2 for Motorcycle Safety Fee, $60 for the CHP, $30 for my personalized plate, ZAPOROG, $15 more.....

The State Haul said "No More Taxes!!"  -- so they added FEES instead of taxes.

oh, silly us, getting taxes confused with fees

that makes everything ok then
