I purchased the indicators in the post quoted below. I'm trying to figure out the right indicator wiring. My stock indicator wiring has a grey, green, and black/white wire. The purchased one has only black and black/white. I know I need to match the black/white together but what about the black wire? And what should I do with the ground (green)?

I already attached the left indicator. I did notice that it isn't always on like my stocks are but I assume that's because the new indicators aren't built for that.

Oh and can the stock clamps come off without taking off the forks? :o

Take off the fork cap, check to see if the spacer tube will come out, don't remember. then loosen the lower clamp, slide the tube down.

then you can take off the signal mount.

repeat for other side.

Look at the old lamps, use an ohm meter, whatever ya hafta do, but find out which wire goes to the hot ( center , lead button) on the lamp. The other one is ground,, then do the same on the new lamps, Just gotta get hot to hot & ground to ground. As long as the lamps dont ground to the frame, its really no big deal to the light bulb which side is hot..the filament doesnt care.. But Id really rather see ya do it right,, never know how it could affect something. Tools,, every kinda job needs tools, an ohm meter & a test lite are good to have.

Green might be ground, red and black are running or signal.
Signal will be the bright one.
Black/white is ground.

I'm not sure I follow. Green may be ground but black and white are ground? There's no red and black, that I know of.

About the ohm, I get trying to tell which is hot but what does that do if the other wires are on the indicator? None of those will register.

the guy you bought if from should be able to give you a clue.

The brighter light is signal.

Remove bulb, take ohm meter, find wire that connects to the tube the bulb sits in, thats ground, the other one is hot.

Ok I think I have some idea. I'll ask the seller as well but I think it is a bit clearer. I had an issue with my battery so I bought a pretty decent multimeter. Somehow in 2 months I've needed it about a half dozen times; likely the best purchase I could have made next to my bike!

There is no ground wire on the new signals. you have to add one by screwing or soldering a wire to the casing. The other two wires will be signal and running lights. Touch each to 12v while grounding and the brighter one is the signal. On the bike the black and white is ground, grey is running, and green is signal.

LED's?

If they were not sold/marked as run, signal WITH 3 wires. I'm pretty sure you can't just add a ground to them.

You rarely see led's as running lights because yes they are bright(at first) and show light for almost ever, their light gets dimmer and dimmer as time goes on

and youll need a load resistor or electronic flasher for the leds to flash
correctly...

Good point about the running lights and LEDs. I had not thought about that but I have LEDs on my porch and I can see why they're not good to run constantly because they do dim.

When I get a break in work I'll check out the wiring and such. Thanks again.

Ok how do I solder in a ground wire to the LED indicator? I just took the back indicator off to see and there is no ground wire. The gentleman I purchased these from had them on the rear.

You're saying I can't just wrap the gray ground that is on the bike now around a bolt or something?

You can slide a ring terminal on the screw post like a washer.. Pick then up at my second home for cheap (autozone)

Similar to how someone would wire accessories to the battery.

Have you tried connecting these directly to a battery to check for the function your looking for?

Yes, I finally did that. For me green is indicator gray is running and black/white is ground. They work. After all that work they're not too bright for daylight. I'm such a maroon!

Not too bright, maybe better put is they're not real bright.
