When you arrive with your tools to fix her bike a guy will jump out from behind the bushes and steal your car, tools, credit cards, wallet, money, identity and your clothes and leave you to find your way home on that broken down Savage.

Seriously, why would she include the picture.  Answer: to attract men.  So even if she is legit she wouldn't be above manipulation.  On the other hand she is cute.  So if you're looking for a girl friend maybe it is worth a shot.

Probably...I live no where near LA (and I'm happily married already!)but I sent her a reply with a suggestion she look up this forum. If it's legit then she can get all the knowledge she needs from here...

I'm pretty busy right now, but you're welcome any time.

In fact look forward to a wrenching session late summer.

Wouldn't a picture of her on the bike been better?

Good job Bubba, maybe several of us should do the same.

yeah a picture on the bike would have been better...I'm such a sucker for sob stories tho'
Funny thing is, I sometimes search different cities on craigslist for savages ever since I got such a smoking deal on the last one. Usually I search places where I know people so I can tell them to go snacth up the bike...if their looking anyway...

She contacted me. It's ligitimate. She is just someone looking for a hand...no harm in trying.
Versy, you should try and make her a convert! She's tslking about the Honda Magna as her dream bike...at least she knows they are a PITA to work on...I think she may have buyers remorse on our little scoot... :)

Hi all.  I'm "The Lady" in need of help.
nic name Millions or Millie ... no really, it's my real nic name  ;)

no scam here, though I totally understand the suspicions.  It's a cruel cruel world...  sniff sniff. nuff said.

Looking forward to seeing what I can learn on the forum here...
generally appreciative of any advice... ie. is there a better tape for holding the headlamp on besides mail tape?  Is it really true I could just glue the plastic housing as a real fix  {they want over $100 for a new one}. I should post a pic of how I've taped in on. It'd be good for a laugh.

cheers

Hi millie, tried to contact you, guess it didn't work out.

How bad is it broken?
Cracks at the base or completely broken off?

Depending on what look you want once it's fixed there are a number of ways to go.  Aluminum tape if you wanted it shiney (somewhat).  Fiberglass it and paint it black.

But a more durable replacement would be a Harley type bottom mount for around $50.

I used the "Metal" epoxy putty to fix mine (after trying tape, regular epoxy, JB Weld, etc).
Works pretty darn good.  Also used it to fix the back bracket on my gas tank and the license plate mount on the back fender.
Not real pretty (it's black), but it holds well!  Just make sure you rough up the surfaces where it will be sticking.  Best bet is to sand off all the chrome coating.  You can always put that shiny tape on it when all is done.

Oh.. and welcome to the board!  Lots of nice and knowledgeable people here.
A few eccentrics  ::)

Millie and I met up and I at least got her headlight fixed up with one that I've replaced off of mine.

I'm sure you guys know the drill... she took it to the dealer complaining of an oil leak and she gets a laundry list of everything not up to brand new status right up to piston rings.

I don't think dealers understand us.  If we wanted brand new, we would've gotten brand new.  I say it leaks, that's what I want fixed.

She's a bright enthusiastic long time rider and it was a joy to help her out.
