Title: Totaled my s40
Post by creekhound on 05/05/11 at 13:05:59

First off i am ok!Second i want to thank all here who have helped me with my ?s.My bobber will not be getting finshed now.I had a guy turn left in front of me while going 45 on a major rod  this morning said he never saw me.Totaled my bike and leathers but i walked away.He had no insurance so mine is now on the case so we will se what happens with that.So the bike has the front forks ripped off header pipe and flang busted and bent pegs and controlls on right side.Looks like the frame bent and all controls and mirriors are destroyed. So not real sure why i am writing this but be carful every one to many other people not paying attention! :'(

hate that happened - my son called me today and told me had now officially laid his R6 down - going 20 car stopped short and hit the brake and dropped it - was wearing the gear and walked away skinned the bike up but still rideable.......hate to hear anyone has a mis-hap of anykind on a bike - makes me wonder why I got one.

be safe everyone.

Sorry to hear about your mishap, and glad you walked away- you can always get another bike. I have an uninsured motorist rider on both the car and the bike insurance. Hope things work out to your benefit.

if the frame isn't too bent up, could you get a RYCA kit for it? assuming the engine is usable too

I am glad that you are fine. I would still get checked out just in case. I carry uninsured motorist on both my bike and car for this reason.

You got the high percentage wreck and made it! Not much defense unless you can pull an ET and fly. Get up early enought to soak in warm water tomorrow if you can even get up for work. Glad it turned out as good as it did.

We will have to see how much it will cost to buy it back from insurance company bike was a 05 like new with 1800 miles on it.Who knows what will happen. But it would be a great one for parts.

Baptism by fire is never fun, glad you walked away from it. I went down on my Vulcan in 2/08, 20 mph in a corner, ice or "traction" sand washed the rear end out from under me. Bike needed handlebar, mirror and a couple turn signals. I was the less than thrilled recipient of a stainless steel plate and a bunch of screws to put my shattered shoulder back together. Be glad you were on a small bike, you'd have gotten pretty beat up on something heavier.

If the cylinder and/or cases got damaged, let the insurance company keep it. If the frame is for real bent, same thing. If the forks got obliterated the steering head is junk.

ATGATT just makes it easier for first responders to clean up the mess.

I'm glad to hear that you dodged the bullet man!
Sorry to hear about the loss of your ride. But take what you have learned and make the next one even better...and paint it day-glow orange!

I want say here to everyone that rides, pay the extra and get the uninsured and under-insured motorist insurance.
It is sad to say but if you ride long enough, you will be hit, and they will not have insurance. Your first night in the ICU is going to cost more than your house. So, Please Please Please cover your Arse!
Someone who knows.

Yes definately bottoms up to walking away. That totally sucks about the insurance though. I'd talk to a lawyer they love to eat these guys with no insurance at fault alive.

How offtern do you get a chance to buy a "Know-to-be-good motor" for a coulple hundred bucks ?   and thats not counting the wheel and other parts.

Where are ya on the map ?

or part it on ebay .

I seen bikes with --- reconstructed --- titles   ,  they sell cheep !   so   they must have been bought  cheep .

Glad you walked away  and  good luck with the parts !

Good to hear you are ok. Insurance can't replace your health but insurance should take care of the bike replacement. Hears to a satisfactory settlement!
