Hey, Yonuh, you ever get that rabbitry going? Have you seen this months Grit magazine? Got a design laid out?

Not yet I haven't, still looking for some land to put it on and more finances. It seems everything went wrong all at once. I lost my job, and all the vehicles died at once. Finally got work again but I have to walk which means leaving two hours early to get there on time.

So basically its on hold until I can get straightened out.

I wnt & looked at a rabbitry. Darn smart setup, I thot. Just a wall with a roof &  wire cages hangin off that wall,A wire Box supported on one side

I bought a 30" X about 20" & about 8 feet box for 3 does fo 45 $. I dubt I coulda got the wire & connecting stuff & all for that, not counting th time,, so, When you can,, maybe looking for a used cage would be the quick, cheap, easy answer to getting started.

rabbit droppins make great worm beds

It also makes great fertilizer for gardens and yards and doesn't have to be "processed" like cow and horse manure to keep from burning the plants. It can go straight from cage to garden.

When we do get the rabbitry going we will be also bagging and selling the manure as well as have worm beds.

My plan is to eat them & sell some. Not too concerned with the pelts, but maybe once we get going I may change my mind.

By the way JOG, where is this Rabbitry you visited and what breed do they sell? I am having a heck of time finding a Rabbitry that will give me some prices for breeding stock. I am looking for either Californians or New Zealand Whites.

And if you don't want the pelts, my wife would be interested in them.

Until I start handling them, I dont really know what Ill do with the pelts.

Rabbitry is about 5 miles away,, They have several breeds, they even sell to the pet stores. The pet stores send people to buy rabbits & haul them to the store. You can get a pregnant doe for $35.00.
