Title: HELP 1st fill-up and it died! Post by roger dodger on 04/29/11 at 07:32:13 Embarrassing 1st question....my 1st fill-up w/ my new (used) Savage and I put in 2.5 gals of non-oxy gas. I left the station and within 2 blocks, it back-fired, sputtered, and died. I may have over-filled the tank (over the bottom of the neck) so what did I flood to make it quit (and not re-start)? I pushed it home (1 mile..up-hill...both ways) and drained the bowl. Checked the petcock for flow. Dry air filter. I siphoned about 1/2 gal of gas out to lower the tank level....and still no hint of a start! |

Check your start regimen... key on(one click), shut-off switch on, kickstand up, clutch in,... start... |

She filled up with the same gas she always does, went 2 blocks and the engine died. Long story short - the dealer had just received a new gas shipment and the guy in the truck filled up the wrong tank with diesel. We got her tank drained, fill it with fresh gas, engine fired up, went back to the station where 20 other people were in line, got the price of the gas, + $100 for our trouble. |

Of course I didn't see it hit the run/kill, but I did notice the bike slowing. A few minutes later WTF is this doing off for? |

I called the station and deduced 'I' went to the non-oxy pump, but put in deisel fuel accidentally. :-[ I was in a hurry, had just changed oil, and bled brakes on a different bike....and didn't do it RIGHT! Now, I ass-ume I can simply drain the tank (and carb) and re-fill w/ GAS. Any other tips for righting my wrong? Thanks loads!!!! |

At least you didn't fill your $70k diesel truck with high test from empty and drive it till it quite. Like a gentleman did a month ago void warrenty, on the hook for a very expensive repair. Tried to blame the station but they had him on camera filling it with gas! |
