What do they do? Does the stock 52.5 have bleed holes? If I was to rejet to a larger size would I get a 52.5 with bleed holes or a 55 with bleed holes?

They're supposed to smooth out the transition between running on the pilot and running on the main jet. I am not sure how effective they are at that (never noticed a difference) but I do know they provide several more holes to clean out.

Just curious, are you just curious, or do you have a running problem ?
Did your plug read look ok ? Did your spacer mod cure a lean cond in the low-midrange ?

I am 2 3/4 turns out and still getting some backfire occasionally.

Well I replaced jets on mine and they have bleeders as well and I seen no difference either. And, I still get backfiring occasionally.

I myself do not like the bleed holes, they made the FireLizard run too rich and I couldn't tune it properly. But when I put non-bleed holes it worked fine. But that was just my experience and the FireLizard's carb wasn't exactly in perfect condition.
